This beautifully presented collection of classic and modern baby ear designs by Christine Eames will inspire both the novice and more experienced machine knitter. Inside you will find techniques rarely practised by the home knitter, including hand-tooling, designs on the ribber, pile knitting, and the art of plating, as well as instructions on how to achieve crochet-effect knitting, cabling, slip stitch, bobble stitch and jacquard. Christine also demonstrates how to use yarns such as chenille and viscose ribbon successfully and even shows how to enhance garments with embroidery, fleece, lace and appliqué trimmings. In addition to the range of garments, Christine illustrates how to se the techniques to knit charming items for the nursery, including a cot quilt, blanket and hanging mobile. Christine Eames has over 40 years’ experience in machine knitting. Her interest arose from having eight children to clothe. In 1964 she became an in-store demonstrator and home tutor for a leading knitting machine manufacturer and stayed in this occupation for many years, until opening her own shop selling knitting machines and baby ear. She continues to design and knit for her 30 grandchildren.
