Crochet Halloween Bookmarks - Free Patterns

Measurements  

Pumpkin Bookmark – approx. 6cm wide x 26cm tall  

Ghost Bookmark – approx. 4cm wide x 26.5cm tall 

 

Materials  

Yarn – Make & Create DK Yarn:

 - Pumpkin – Ember and Khaki 

 - Ghost – White and Black 

Crochet Hook – 4mm 

Scissors  

Yarn Needle  

 

Notes  

 - Patterns written in UK Terms.  

 - Patterns worked in rows and rounds. 

 

Abbreviations 

Ch – Chain 

MR – Magic Ring 

SS – Slip Stitch 

DC – Double Crochet 

HTR – Half Treble Crochet 

TR – Treble Crochet 

DTR – Double Treble Crochet 

INC – 2 or more stitches in the same stitch  

PICOT – Picot Stitch 

STS – Number of stitches 

 

Special Stitches 

PICOT – Picot Stitch – Chain 3, ss into the 3rd chain.  

 

Tension 

16 stitches x 22 rows (4 inch square) with the double crochet stitch. 

 

Patterns

 

Pumpkin 

To Start: With Ember, make a MR.  

Round 1: Ch1, 8htr into the ring, ss [8 sts] 

Round 2: Ch1, (htr inc) x8, ss [16 sts] 

Round 3: Ch1, *2dc, htr inc, (3tr inc) x2, htr inc, 2dc; repeat from * 1 more time, ss [28 sts] 

Cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull through. Sew in loose ends using a yarn needle. 

 

Stalk  

To Start: With Khaki chain 4, work in 2nd chain from the hook. 

Row 1: htr in each chain [3 sts] 

SS into first stitch. Cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull through. 

Sew your stalk onto the top of your pumpkin using the tail and a yarn needle. 

 

Bookmark Tail  

To Start: With Khaki chain 8, work in 2nd chain from the hook. 

Row 1: Dc, htr, 3tr, htr, dc. 

Now chain 40, ss to the bottom of your pumpkin. 

Cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull through. 

Fasten off and sew ends in using a yarn needle. 

 

Ghost 

To Start: With White, make a MR.  

Round 1: Ch1, 8 htr into the ring, ss [8 sts] 

Round 2: Ch1, (htr inc) x8, ss [16 sts] 

Round 3: Ch1, tr inc, (3tr inc) x2, tr inc, ss [10 sts] 

Cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull through. 

Fasten off, sew ends in using a yarn needle. 

 

Bookmark Tail

To Start: With White, make a MR. 

Round 1: Ch1, 12 tr into the ring, ss [12 sts] 

Now chain 40, ss to the bottom of your ghost. 

Cut yarn leaving a long tail and pull through. Sew in loose ends using a yarn needle. 

Now to finish off your ghost, thread a little black yarn onto your needle and sew some eyes onto your ghost over rounds 1 & 2, 2 stitches apart. 

Fasten off and sew ends in. 

All finished!
