DIY Pressed Flower Bookmark
Tutorial by Bethany Edwards
You’ll need:
- Card (A6 pre-folded cards or any card you have at home)
- Scissors or a paper trimmer
- Fresh flowers, buds, and leaves
- Paper (for pressing)
- A heavy book
- Mod Podge (or similar craft glue)
- A paint brush
Step 1: Press your flowers.

Gather a few flowers, buds, and leaves from your garden or a shop-bought bouquet. Lay them flat between sheets of paper, then place them inside a heavy book. Leave them to press for around a week, or until they feel fully dry.
Step 2: Prepare your bookmark base.

Take your card and cut it to your desired bookmark size. Mine was around 2cm wide, but you can choose any width you like. If you’re not using a pre-folded card, simply cut your card to double the length you want and fold it in half to create your bookmark.
Step 3: Open and prepare the surface.

Unfold your bookmark. On one side (this will be the front where your design shows), brush a thin layer of Mod Podge across the surface.
Step 4: Arrange your flowers.

Carefully place your pressed flowers onto the glue, arranging them into a design you love.
Step 5: Let it dry.
Allow the glue to dry completely so your flowers are fixed in place.
Step 6: Seal your design.

Once dry, brush a generous layer of Mod Podge over the top of the flowers to seal them. You may wish to add a second coat for extra durability, letting it dry fully between layers.
Step 7: Finish and enjoy.
Once everything is completely dry, your bookmark is ready to use. Simply fold it over the pages of your current read and enjoy your handmade creation.
