Bill Wood's Top 10 Autumn Reads
You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight
Kaylnn Bayron

I'm unsure if there's an existing fan name for Kalynn Bayron, but call me a Bayronator because I devour every signle one of her books. You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight is a fun-filled twisty romp that's perfect for spooky season.
Strange Sally Diamond
Liz Nugent

I was a bookseller when Strange Sally Diamond released and the blurb really drew me in. Woman puts out her father with the rubbish? Sign my up. It became one of my go-to recommendations and that's still the case today.
Misery
Steven King

You can't really have a list of spooky reads without at least one Stephen King title, right? Misery is one of my favourites. The wintry and secluded setting does so much for the story and Annie Wilkie might be one of the best written characters of all time.
One by One
Freida McFadden

I had so many Freida books to choose from as I've read almost all of her titles at this point. But I do keep going back to One by One... It seems I have a thing for books set in secluded locations. What Freida does best is plot twists and One by One is no different.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder
Holly Jackson

This book, and series, need no introduction but I'm still going to recommend them. A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is such an evocative and cinematic take on the mystery genre. It's incredibly plotted and will leave you gasping with every turn of the page.
The One
John Marrs

John Marrs knows a concept. A future where a DNA test can tell you who your perfect partner is. The One is an incredible blend of thriller and sci-fi.
A Wish So Deadly
Marilize Loxton

I love a deadly tournament in any book, but YA novels seem to just do it best. Powerless meets The Hunger Games in A Wish So Deadly; it'll leave you giggling one minute and in shock the next.
Divine Rivals
Rebecca Ross

Rebecca Ross might just be one of the best authors writing today. Ever single book I've read of hers has forced me to order the next right away. Divine Ricals is perfect for this time of year as enchanted typewriters and a historical setting really drive home an autumnal vibe.
Scythe
Neal Shusterman

I first read Scythe ten years ago and it blew my mind. A dystopian world where humans have achieved immortality against death, disease, and aging. But, to hinder overpopulation, they have specialised killers called Scythes. With the first book in the prequel trilogy releasing later this year, there's no better time to get stuck in.
The Hunger Games
Suzanne Collins

Is this the most obvious recommendation? Yes, of course. Everyone knows that The Hunger Games is, but I'd be amiss not to mention the book that made me want to be an author. The new movie comes out in November too so I think it's about time for a reread.
