My Top 5 Books

1. Atmosphere, Taylor Jenkins Reid

Atmosphere sits on a dark wood book shelf next to a popcorn jellycat and other books by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Summary: Atmosphere follows Joan Goodwin, a thoughtful astrophysics professor who becomes one of the first women selected for NASA’s Space Shuttle program in the early 1980s, where she forms a secret, tender romance with fellow astronaut Vanessa Ford, right as a catastrophic mission aboard the shuttle STS-LR9 upends everything.

Dare I say it? My favourite read of 2025! There is honestly so much I could write. If you could see my camera roll I took a photo of nearly all the pages in the book because there is so many beautiful quotes I wanted to revisit, savour and reread again. This just solidified to me how amazing TJR is an author. She portrayed the character's emotions so perfectly that they felt real to me. I already miss Joan and Vanessa and the relationship they had with Frances was so pure and special. It made my heart pang.

All this added in with the outstanding plot and I now have such an interest in space and NASA.The history of it during the 1980’s with women making their stamp in the space programme has now captured my attention. I can’t get over how unique this is and the execution of it all was perfect. I found myself constantly reaching to pick this up and I’ve already bored my friends and family to death talking about how they need to read it! Please take this as your sign to add this book to your TBR and read it because you won’t be disappointed. I’m so excited for everyone to experience this!

"And the stars are us. Every atom in our bodies was once out there. Was once a part of them. To look at the night sky is to look at parts of who you once were, who you may one day be."

2. Great Big Beautiful Life, Emily Henry

The colourful book is held up next to a bunch of pink flowers.

Summary: Alice Scott, an optimistic journalist, is racing for her big break when she’s invited to Little Crescent Island to compete in a one-month trial against Pulitzer-winning writer Hayden Anderson for the chance to write the biography of reclusive heiress Margaret Ives, a former tabloid figure whose truths are far more complex than they seem. As they navigate NDAs, family secrets, and growing attraction, the story becomes a layered exploration of ambition, legacy, and love that defies a single narrative.

Despite all the mixed reviews I absolutely loved this and found myself tearing up at the last couple of pages. I loved the flicker between the past and the present and how we essentially got two stories woven into one. I felt like this novel was so much more than a romance, it really made me reflect on my own life, relationships and all the little moments that shape us into who we are.

"Everything's complicated. Everything. Once you start paying attention."

I was so invested in Margaret’s story and couldn’t wait to keep turning the pages to find more. She was so interesting to me, I love the sudden plot twist which I didn’t foresee in the story too! The tension between Hayden and Alice was everything, those knee knocks had me in a chokehold! Emily Henry even gave us some spicy scenes too!

Read this if you love Women’s Fiction!

3. Intermezzo, Sally Rooney

The blue and white book sits on a white hoodie with a print of a chessboard, wine glass, and the book Intermezzo.

Summary: Intermezzo follows two brothers - Peter, a Dublin-based lawyer, and Ivan, a socially awkward former chess prodigy as they navigate life in the wake of their father's death, each wrestling with grief, guilt, and complicated romantic entanglements. Peter juggles feelings for his ex, Sylvia, and his current relationship with the much younger Naomi, while Ivan finds an intense connection with Margaret, a woman significantly older, sparking family tensions and forcing both brothers to confront their differences and the bonds that hold them together.

This is the second book I’ve read by Sally Rooney and it did not disappoint. I’ll admit it did take me a second to get into the story and characters along with Rooney’s unique writing style, but once I did I was hooked and couldn’t stop turning the pages finding myself immersed in every sentence.

"you can drive yourself crazy thinking about these things. the other lives you could have had. and the life you did have, after it's over - where did it go? i mean, what are you supposed to do with it?"

I was in awe of Sylvia’s character and her relationship with not only Peter but Ivan, she was so wise and respectable even in her darkest hours and never showed any disrespect towards Naomi. I also loved Alexei, I was so glad when he was reunited with Ivan.

"it's all just memory, and what if the memories fade?"

Side note: this book makes me want to play chess! I loved all the references throughout!

4. Flawless, Elsie Silver

Flawless and Heartless by Elsie Silver sit next to a bunch of pink and white roses and a straw hat.

Summary: Flawless is the sizzling first installment in the Chestnut Springs series. It follows rugged professional bull rider Rhett Eaton, whose career is derailed by scandal, and Summer Hamilton, the no-nonsense daughter of his agent, who is tasked with managing his image. Their forced proximity and sharp-witted banter spark an unexpected, irresistible romance as they navigate personal vulnerabilities, public pressure, and the thin line between duty and desire.

Annoyed at myself for not starting this series sooner! This was so binge worthy and 100% lives up to the hype! I adored Rhett & Summer and I now want to work on the Eaton ranch! I can’t wait to dive into the next book, especially after seeing a glimpse into Summer & Willa’s friendship during flawless!

Don’t be a fool like me and read this book ASAP!

5. The Housemaid, Freida McFadden

A photo of The Housemaid held up in front of a leafy green plant.

Summary: The Housemaid follows Millie Calloway, a young woman recently released from prison who takes a job as a live-in housekeeper for the affluent Winchester family, only to find the household’s glamorous facade conceals dark manipulation and abuse. As unsettling dynamics unfold, Millie becomes entangled between the wealthy matriarch Nina and her charming husband Andrew, ultimately discovering that appearances deceive, power corrupts, and revenge can come in unexpected forms.

This is the first book I’ve read from Freida McFadden, but it surely won’t be the last! I love how fast paced this book was and it for sure kept me on my toes with all the guessing, twists and turns! I was glued to the pages the whole time!

The writing in this book was simple and effective! The short chapters kept my attention span which explains how I finished the book in just 24 hours! The fastest I’ve ever read a book - now that says something!

If you can, please do not read any spoilers and to be honest don’t even read the blurb! I went into this book blind and it’s probably the best thing I did! I’m really happy I read this book and even better it was one for our book club as there is LOTS to discuss!
