Instructions:

Round 1:
 1. Make a slip knot in your hook.
 2. Work around the hair tie and make a single crochet (think of the hair tie as if it were the stitch you’d normally crochet into if that helps!).
 3. Continue in a single crochet around the hair tie until it is covered – you can do as many stitches as you like.
     - When working around the hair tie, make sure to bunch up the yarn and the stitches as you go, to ensure the whole hair tie is covered.
 4. Once the first round is complete, join in a slip stitch to your first single crochet.

Round 2:
 5. Chain 3.
 6. This first chain will act as a double crochet.
 7. Double crochet x2 into each single crochet from round 1 – this will act as an increase and is what gives the ruffles.
 8. Continue working around the hair tie, once complete, join in a slip stich to the chain 3 made in step five.

Round 3:
9. Chain 3.
10. Continue exactly as you have done in round 2, with 2 double crochets into each stitch.
     - If you’d like a scrunchie with lots of ruffles, experiment with putting 3 x double crochet into each stitch.
 11. Once the round is complete, join to the first double crochet on this round in a slip stitch and fasten off.
 12. Don’t forget to weave in any ends!
