Paper Plate Pumpkins
Got a paper plate and some orange paint? Boom! Instant pumpkin. Let the toddlers slap on some paint, glue googly eyes, and maybe add a mouth - no messy carving required! It's the ultimate easy Halloween craft for younger kids.
All you need is an empty toilet roll, some white tissue paper, and a marker. Wrap the roll with tissue, add a ghostly face, and… ta-da! You’ve got yourself a friendly ghost that won’t haunt your dreams - or your wallet!
Trace their little hands on black paper, cut them out, and fold them for bat wings. Stick on some googly eyes, and you’ve got a bat that’s more cute than creepy! Perfect for tiny crafters who love getting their hands (literally) into it.
Get those tiny toes involved! Dip your toddler's foot in white paint and press it on black paper. Once it’s dry, add eyes and a mouth with a marker, and you’ve got an instant, adorable little ghost!
Grab some brown paper bags and let the kids turn them into their own little monsters. Use paint, markers, or cut-out shapes for eyes, fangs, and horns. Let them go wild, because what’s better than making a monster exactly how you imagine it? And, they double up as a puppet (or last minute costume!) for extra fun.
If you haven’t got any bags, try turning a regular paper plate into a wild monster mask! Grab some paint and slap it on the plate, then cut out these free printable eyes and mouths to build the perfect monster for your little monster.
Cut out sections of an egg carton, paint them black, and add googly eyes for some little bat buddies. Attach a string, and you’ve got hanging bats perfect for decorating your haunted house!
Looking for Halloween crafts for primary school kids? Let’s level up the creepy creativity with projects that’ll keep them busy, and even impress their friends. These Halloween Crafts for kids are still easy, but with a touch more detail for those crafty pros-in-the-making.

Mason Jar Mummies
Take a regular mason jar, wrap it with white gauze or strips of tissue, and glue on some googly eyes. Pop in a tea light (the battery kind for safety), and you’ve got a glowing mummy lantern to light up All Hallows Eve. It’s a super simple craft, but the end result is seriously cool.
Let the kids build their own mini haunted houses using popsicle sticks! Glue them into a house shape, paint them spooky colours, and add ghost or bat stickers for decoration. They can even create little spooky scenes inside using mini figurines or paper cutouts.
Blow up white balloons and let the kids draw spooky ghost faces on them with markers. Pop a glow stick inside the balloon before you tie it off, and now you’ve got glowing ghost decorations that are perfect for a Halloween party!
Cut out a pumpkin shape from the card (orange and black works) and then cover it with construction paper. Fill in the middle with pieces of orange tissue paper and they are good to go. Hang them in the window, and when the sunlight comes through, you’ve got a glowing pumpkin suncatcher. This one’s fun and a little more challenging for the primary school age.
Use a paper plate as the face of your witch, get some paint (any colour of your choice) and cover the plate. Grab some cards and cut out all the facial features like eyes, nose, and hair and glue them on. Finish it off with the hat using black and orange cards. Then, if you really feel like it, give the witch a wart or two.
Mix up a batch of DIY slime, but this time, add some plastic spiders into the mix. The kids can squish, stretch, and find the hidden spiders inside the gooey fun—gross, but in the best way!
Make old-school paper chains, but with a ghostly twist! Print out the templates provided by Muumade and break out the safety scissors and start cutting. Once you’ve cut out the templates, let your kids imaginations run wild and start decorating them with all sorts of spooky little designs.
This one’s a bit of a step up and the perfect craft helping your kids to develop their fine motor skills. Their dexterity will be tested as they cut, fold and line things up across the dotted lines of the template and by the end of this they’ll be a dextrous a brain surgeon.
Take a nature walk, gather some smooth rocks, and then paint them into creepy creatures! Let the kids turn their rocks into monsters, ghosts, or even tiny pumpkins. They’ll love creating their own unique designs, and these make fun decorations for the house or garden.
This craft turns an ordinary brown paper bag into a witch’s broom! Cut the bottom into strips to make the broom’s “bristles,” then roll it up and attach it to a stick or straw for the handle. You’ve got yourself a mini witch’s broomstick, which is goody and perfect for Halloween parties!
For secondary school kids, Halloween crafts can take on a more intricate and creative flair that challenges their artistic abilities. We’ve got a range of art supplies that will have your kids covered for everything they will need to try out these spooky crafts.
Creepy Candle Holders
Turn some old tumblers, jars or glasses into some spooky spider web candle holders. These are the perfect crafts if you’re looking to make some DIY decorations for a movie night or a Halloween party.
Tie-dye isn’t just for the summer - add some Halloween flair with pumpkin-themed tie-dye shirts! Use stencils for pumpkin shapes and get those t-shirts glowing in seasonal colours. Wear your spooky spirit on your sleeve - literally.
Older kids will love getting into 3D art with spooky shadow boxes. Grab an old box (wooden is better but you can also use a shoe box), some cardboard for separators, colourful construction paper and some creepy bits and pieces to add to it. Then start creating hauntingly beautiful Halloween scenes that you expect to see in your favourite horror movies.
Scare up your windows with bloody handprint clings. Use craft glue, some food colouring and a silicone baking mat. Stick them on the windows for a frightful effect that’s both gross and awesome.
Get crafty with some spooky soap-making. Use silicone moulds to create spiders, cobwebs, or pumpkin-shaped soaps, and come up with some fun names like “graveyard mist” for a touch of Halloween magic. These soaps are perfect for Halloween gifts or just spicing up the bathroom.
