Our Top 5 revision tips

Whether this is your first exam season or your third, we can all use some revision tips now and again to help get us back on track.

So whether you’re just starting to make a revision time table or you’re coming to the end and need a little extra support, we’ve got a tip for you.


1.Start early

We’re not here to nag but if all of your friends have started revising, then, it’s probably time that you joined them and picked up a few past papers.

You now what they say “fail to prepare, prepare to fail” you’ll feel a lot better once you’ve made a start.


2.Create a revision time table.

Now to some of you this may seem obvious and to others this may seem a tad pointless, but trust us, it’s a great tool. Now we’re not saying you need to plan every minute of your day down to bathroom breaks. We are saying that working out what and when you should be revising is a really good way to make sure you don’t miss any key points and most importantly, don’t get bored doing the same subject everyday for a week.

3.Get creative

Nothing is more boring than a huge mass of black ink against a white piece of paper. Throw some colour into the mix!
Studies show that adding colour to revision notes can actually help you remember them better. Reds,yellows and oranges are especially good for grabbing your attention, whereas blues, purples and greens have a calming effect. This is is especially useful if you’re revising a subject that you’re worried about. So get doodling!

4.Reward yourself

The one thing you don’t want to do this exam season is get down about how much revision you haven’t done, stay positive. Focus on what you have achieved and reward yourself for that. All you can do is your best, work at your own pace and reward yourself at each victory no matter how small.

5.Practice, practice, practice

You’ve heard the phrase practice makes perfect right? Well there’s a reason it’s so well known… it’s true! Don’t let all your revision go to waste make sure you can apply the things you’ve learnt to a question. Past papers are your best friend when revising.
