After the tragedy of losing my dear mum Josie in my late 20’s, I suffered terribly with anxiety and needed a distraction from my overactive mind. I was at an exhibition sitting next to a lovely Irish lady from the UK Hand Knitting Association. I picked up a hook, she taught me the basics of crochet there and then and sent me on my way. I was instantly addicted and began designing immediately.

I love playing with different stitches, styles and textures. Many of my designs are born out of my love of fashion and desire to be different. My designs have appeared in Inside Crochet, Crochet Now, Simply Crochet, Mollie Makes and The Crochet Society Box.

2 x 100g Jade Yarn A

2 x 100g Ocean Yarn B

2 x 100g Aqua Green Yarn C

2 x 100g Pearl Yarn D

4.5mm crochet hook.

Pattern:

Riding the Wave Blanket

Using Yarn A, make 183ch.

Row 1: 1tr in 4th ch from hook (the skipped 3ch counts as 1tr), *1tr in each of next 3 ch [tr2tog over next 2 ch] twice, 1tr in each of next 3 ch, 2tr in each of next 2 ch; rep from * ending last rep with 2tr in last ch, turn. (180 sts or 15 pattern repeats).

Row 2: 3ch (counts as 1tr here and throughout), 1tr in same st, working in blo of every st work *3tr blo, [tr2tog blo] twice, 3tr blo, 2tr blo in each of next 2 sts; rep from * ending last rep with 2tr blo in 3rd of 3ch at end, turn.

Row 2 forms pattern row and is repeated. Continue in pattern as set working in yarn shades as follows:

Rows 3-6: Use Yarn A.

Row 7: Use Yarn B.

Row 8: Use Yarn A.

Rows 9-14: Use Yarn B.

Row 15: Use Yarn C.

Row 16: Use Yarn B.

Rows 17-22: Use Yarn C.

Row 23: Use Yarn D.

Row 24: Use Yarn C.

Rows 25-30: Use Yarn D.

Row 31: Use Yarn A.

Row 32: Use Yarn D.

Row 33-38: Use Yarn A.

Row 39: Use Yarn B.

Row 40: Use Yarn A.

Rows 41-46: Use Yarn B.

Row 47: Use Yarn C.

Row 48: Use Yarn B.

Rows 49-54: Use Yarn C.

Row 55: Use Yarn D.

Row 56: Use Yarn C.

Rows 57-62: Use Yarn D.

Rep rows 31-62 once more.

Last row: Use Yarn D, 1ch (does not count as a st), 1dc in each st to end.
